Desdamona is an international award-winning artist; who has taken her distinct lyrics, sounds, and artistic stylings to audiences from Minnesota to Hawaii to Puerto Rico to Germany; gracing some of Hip Hop and poetrys most illustrious stages.

Desdamona is recognized as a Minnesota Hip Hop Pioneer. Although she came onto the Minneapolis scene in 1997 and wasnt the first to grab the mic, she paved the way for ladies who rock the mic in the Twin Cities and was the first female MC widely known for not only rockin mics but as a promoter, community organizer and teaching artist.

From underground mixtapes in the early nineties and the various Micranots releases, to 2006's Mixtape Deluxe, DJ Kool Akiem has been providing a steady diet of funk to the public for years now. Lacing ornate and eclectic samples over rugged drum hits and 808 kicks, Kool Akiem's productions have a distinct feeling that provide just the right amount of stimulation not to take attention away from the lyrics of his various collaborators. While most producers stick to a time-tested formula, Kool Ak constantly keeps it fresh by reinventing his production style without losing the urgent bump that folks have grown to expect from his tracks.

Michael Shynes

December 7, 2018

doors 6:30 pm
show 7:30 pm
$20

Little Falls musician returns to the place it all started with a concert performance at the newly renovated Great River Arts. Shynes recently released his new album, “There Goes the Devil,” and played a concert in Gdansk, Poland. He has toured the country and internationally and played with platinum recording artists including Howie Day. Shynes has worked to become one of the most sought after acoustic performers and songwriters in the Midwest. He has an ability to blend shades of multiple genres over an acoustic landscape, and his songs are ripe with lyrical depth rarely paired with mainstream appeal. "The thing that seems to separate Shynes is unquestionably his voice and phrasing. With a range and falsetto that is nothing short of captivating, his acoustic finger picking style acts as the perfect bed of warmth on which his soulful lyrics can rest."

Church of Cash

January 24 & 25, 2019

doors 6:30 pm
show 7:30 pm

Jay "Jayder" Kalk formed Church of Cash in sunny Honolulu back in 2010. With an uncanny grasp of the Man in Black's catalog and many years of experience touring the United States, Europe and Asia, Jayder has returned to his Minnesota home to spread the gospel of one of the world's most important and enduring songwriters. The Church of Cash is true to the music of Johnny Cash, and singer Jayder's deep baritone voice sings like a prairie breeze and stomps like a boot heel. Road-tested and always road-ready, The Church of Cash is celebrating the soul of American Music.

What the Church of Cash has that no one else can match is their loyalty to the song and the message that Johnny left to all of us. The band merely keeps this word alive with a youthful spirit that has entertained audiences completely. Last year, Church of Cash played TWO sold out shows, so don’t wait!
