Summer Camps at GRA

Spend the day surrounded by art and inspiration at Great River Arts working one-on-one with our talented, local teaching artists. This year we have expanded programming to better serve our youngest students. We are looking forward to working with your children this summer to expand their creative vocabulary & encourage lots of growth & artistic development. Our expansion in summer youth programming is made possible in part by grant funding from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Five Wings Arts Council.

Join Heather at Great River Arts for a week-long theatre camp that is packed with lots of fun and is a great learning experience! Your child will play educational theatre games, learn auditioning skills and stage presence, develop fun characters, and perform on stage for a live audience.

This year the production will be THE BOY WHO CRIED WOLF by Stacey Lane. This play has lots of fun characters including; Roy and his family, a flock of sheep with “seven dwarf” type personalities, and some hungry wolves.

Kids! Come be a part of the magic of live theatre!

Join Heather at Great River Arts for a week long musical theater camp. Your child will play educational theatre games, learn auditioning skills and stage presence, develop fun characters, learn vocal warm up techniques and sing several fun songs, dance to original choreography and perform on stage for a live audience.

This year we will be presenting CINDERELLA  (Retold as a musical play) by Jack Perry and Robert Neil Porter. This version of the classic children’s fairy tale has all the charm of the original story and all of the familiar characters:  Cinderella and her
stepsisters, the mean stepmother, the Fairy Godmother, the handsome prince, and in
this version Cinderella has acquired a faithful dog, Rover, who is given the power
of speech by the Fairy Godmother. Lots of fun to be had with this musical!

Theatre is such a great confidence builder and the camaraderie that is experienced
with the children throughout the week is invaluable! Great River Arts is a positive
and creative space that our young actors thrive in. Can’t wait to see you in the summer!
