This entry level class is designed to introduce the classic techniques of hand-sewing with leather. Students will complete two projects that demonstrate the basics of working with leather including: punching, hand sewing, riveting, snap setting, finishing and care. Students will be guided through the process from hide to finished product - leaving the class with your very own handmade leather-work. No previous experience with any type of craft or sewing is required, ages 15 - 115.
Students will be able to choose from a wide assortment of projects and leather at the beginning of class, including: Clutches, belts, coin purses, wallets, Field Notes and passport covers, phone cases, key-chains, sunglasses cases and more.
Join us for one or both of our starter sessions: an exploration in introductory pottery techniques with GRA's Ceramicist Specialist, Renee Zeleny!! Participants will be taught basic hand-building in order to make several small plates. All materials are provided except for creativity and enthusiasm; bring your own, along with an apron or clothes that don't mind a little mess.
