POSITION DESCRIPTION

Events Assistant 

Great River Arts seeks a creative, detail-oriented, and self-sufficient individual for the position of Events Assistant at the GRA center, located at 122 First St. SE, in the historic district of downtown Little Falls.

Great River Arts (GRA) is a nonprofit, member-based organization, governed by a volunteer board that provides multidisciplinary art experiences in greater Minnesota. The administrative and financial assistant supports reports to the executive director.

This position is responsible for handling event tasks in conjunction with staff & board.

Reports to: Executive Director

Supervises: Volunteers

Hours & Salary: Monday- Saturday. Hours vary. Schedule is dependent on GRA events and programs. Schedule is determined with the Executive Director on a monthly basis (further out if possible) depending on arts center needs. Required to work nights and weekends based on GRA's event schedule. $15/hr. Must be comfortable working alone.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Required: High School diploma or GED equivalent and at least one year experience working in event planning or a customer service-related field.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Event Assistant (75%): Includes set up and take down of events. Operates events (public and private) and organizes with outside groups for event logistics. Registers participants for events and answers related inquiries.

2. Representative of GRA (10%): Attends the front-of-the-house tasks, which includes working the front desk, greeting guests and answering event inquiries and requests in-person, by email or by phone. Works with the director to confirm GRA availability and organize events. The Events Assistant participates in internal and external meetings to market the GRA space as a community, public and private venue.

3. Communications and Social Media (10%): Works with executive director to create content for the newspaper, GRA website, social media, e-newsletter, and other mediums as needed.

4. Other duties as assigned by the GRA director and board (5%).

3. Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.

4. Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgement.

5. Has a creative eye for space planning and design.

6. Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituents.

7. Commitment to coworkers and to the mission of Great River Arts.

8. On-time and dependable.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS:

1. Public Speaking.

2. Basic knowledge of stage/musical equipment.

3. Knowledge of social media including facebook.

4. Ability to use standard office equipment and Microsoft/Apple products.

CERTIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS

1. May be required to travel, valid driver’s license required.

2. Ability to lift 40 lbs.

3. Ability to climb ladders.

4. Must be 21+.

Juried Show 2025

Open call for Minnesota artists to participate in 2D, 3D, and photography.  Work will be featured this July and August in GRA's Front and Main galleries.

To Participate: Each artist will be allowed to enter 1-3 pieces of artwork. Cost is $25 for the first piece and $10 for each additional piece ($45 max). GRA members get $5 off of first submission. Submit artist information, images, and payment online.

Important Dates:  

Submission Deadline: May 24th                                                              

Artists' Notified of Selection: By June 14th                                     

Artwork Drop Off: July 2nd and 3rd                                                     

Artist Reception: August 16th, 11-1pm                                             

Artwork Pick Up: August 29th and August 30th                                   

Exhibition Dates: July 9th- August 28th
