Great River Arts is proud to partner with comedian Jason Schommer to offer his first online "Storytelling, Writing and Performance" class.

As a participant, you will explore techniques in the art of storytelling - mined from your experiences; and will have an opportunity to refine your approach to writing and revealing that story in front of an audience.

During this course, you will…

  • Examine popular storytellers
  • Discuss emotion, action, and outcome in the story arc
  • Brainstorm story ideas
  • Outline, write and revise a story based on your life experiences
  • Practice revealing that story to the class to gather supportive feedback

Schommer will provide coaching tips about stage presence, performance, and combating potential insecurities about being in front of an audience.

Online Class Schedule
Tuesday, August 11, 18 and 25 from 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Optional Performance
Saturday, August 29th (Time TBD)
The optional [4th] class on August 29th is an exclusive. During this session you will be able to practice a performance on GRA’s stage - filmed by Great River Television.

A link to access the online classes will be provided three days prior to the course.
