Wheel Throwing 1010

Are you interested in learning how to throw pottery on the wheel?? Or are you looking for some hands on learning/refining of your skills with some extra help from Frances? Well look no further! We have got you covered at Great River Arts in Little Falls!

We have a studio with some beautiful Brent wheels, clay, batts, tools, SPONGES, plastic bags, glazes, brushes and a kiln (fired monthly).

Throwing 101 is offered monthly on the first Saturday of the month,10am-12pm.  In each class we will go over some of the basics of clay, the 4 main steps of throwing, as well as tips and tricks along the way. Each participant will be given four 2# balls of clay. There is a class limit of 6 people - pre registration is required. Ages 8 and up are welcome to join.

There is no "trimming" portion of the class. A glazing class (1 hour) will be held after bisque firing.

Paint Your Own Pottery

GRA offer's a monthly Paint Your Own Pottery class. Down in the studio we have a variety of ceramics ready to be painted ranging from $5-$20! Spot reservation is $5 and includes glazes and firing.  At the class you choose a pottery piece from a variety of pre-made bisquedware (cost of pottery item not included in reservation fee).  Register online at https://greatart.org/products/ceramics-sip-paint-october-12th-5-30pm-6-45pm

Write in the Gallery: 12 Months of Prompts

Join us at Great River Arts once a month.  Write in the gallery.  Be inspired by the art.  Meet other writers.  A facilitator will provide opening prompts otherwise there will be self directed writing time for you to create.  This program is free and open
to the public and for teens and adults.

Laura Hansen is the author of the Stevens Poetry Manuscript Prize collection, Midnight River. Her most recent books are Waiting Rooms; My Breast Cancer Journey in Poems and The Night Journey; Stories and Poems. Published in numerous regional journals, Laura has judged poetry contests for Central Lakes College, The Talking Stick Literary Journal and Brainerd Writers Alliance among others.  Laura is a two time Grand Prize Winner in the League of Minnesota
Annual Poetry Contest and a three time Five Wings Arts Council Grant Recipient. She is on the Lifetime Arts Creative Aging Roster of Teaching Artists and has served on the boards of Great River Arts and The Five Wings Arts Council. A graduate of Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, Laura owned an independent bookstore for twenty years and now works at her local library.
